THE MORAL MONDAYS MOVEMENT CAME TO INDIANA – HEAR WHAT HAPPENED! — Monday, September 29, 6 to 8 pm. — Main St. Library, Humphreys Room

Close to 100 people from St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties traveled by buses and cars to join with Hoosiers from across the state on Saturday, September 20. The day began with workshops addressing education, mass incarceration, environmental justice, voting rights, economics, race and poverty, women's rights and health care.  The march that followed led to the Indiana Statehouse where representatives from a wide range of organizations enlightened and inspired the hundreds of demonstrators.  A highlight of the Rally was the keynote address by the Reverend Dr. William Barber, II.
Next Monday, Sept. 29, from 6 to 8 pm, local participants from North-Central Indiana will share their experiences and consider the question: "Where do we go from here?"  The public is invited to participate in this discussion, which will be held in the Humphreys Room of the St. Joseph County Main Library, 304 S. Main St., South Bend.

"GET OUT THE VOTE RALLY" — Monday, Sept. 29, Noon to 1:30 pm — hosted by the Martin Luther King Jr. Senior Men's Club

Moral Mondays is not a new organization.  It is a coalition of organizations working together, under a common mission, to amplify our voices and magnify our efforts.  One of the "Collaborating Organizations" is the South Bend Martin Luther King Jr. Senior Men's Club.  They are hosting a "get out the vote rally" at the Martin Luther King Center on Monday, Sept. 29, from 12 noon until 1:30 PM.  The rally is open to everyone and a light lunch will be provided.  The King Center is located at 1522 Linden Avenue, South Bend.

THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR THIS FALL'S ELECTION IS OCTOBER 6.  HAVE YOU CONTACTED YOUR TEN "PEOPLE YOU KNOW?"

The South Bend Branch of the NAACP is conducting a "People You Know" voter registration program.  They

are asking everyone to contact 10 people in their address book and ask them to check their voter registration status.  This is a good way to discuss this year's political races, especially for the 2nd District Congressional seat and for School Boards positions in many communities of Michiana.
Ask each person:
A. To check that they are registered or to register online at Indianavoters.in.gov, or
B. To visit the Voter Registration office in the County-City Building to register.

The South Bend NAACP also can provide the forms and assist in completion.  The NAACP office number is (574) 289-2123 or contact Darrell at (574) 210-5250.
