Feb 17, 2015: Community Forum Meeting on Wages and Income, Part 2

When: Tuesday, February 17th at 7 pm
Where: LaSalle Branch Library, 3232 W Ardmore Trail, South Bend

Next Tuesday we will continue our discussion of A.L.I.C.E. — workers who are
Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained yet Employed.  In St. Joseph County, 15% of households have incomes below the federal poverty guidelines, but an additional 25% are A.L.I.C.E. households.  Forty percent of St. Joseph County households struggle to survive!

At next week’s meeting:
1. We will discuss and begin to implement our local campaign to raise the Minimum Wage in Indiana.
2. We’ll hear from a home healthcare worker who will "share his story” about working in this growing industry.
3. We’ll get a report from some of our education activists about the current challenges to public education in Indiana.

Join us that evening to learn more about the issues but also to learn how you can do something about it.  See you then.
