Aug 2: Economic Justice Book Club

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN JOINING AN “ECONOMIC JUSTICE BOOK CLUB”?

The Community Forum for Economic Justice is organizing a book club that will read and discuss books that can deepen our understanding of issues that underlie the fight against social, economic and racial injustice.  Most of us have experienced the desire to discuss what we’ve learned from such books after we’ve read them.  The proposed “Economic Justice Book Club” could provide that opportunity.

An organizational meeting has been planned for Thursday, August 2, at 6 pm in the Dickinson Room of the Main Library on Main St., SB.  At this meeting, we will discuss the goals and structure of the proposed book club, and decide on meeting time/s and place/s.

Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by Matthew Desmond, has been selected as our first book.  This book won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction.  A number of Community Forum activists will be present at the August 2 meeting to give brief “reviews” of the book and to explain how it provides valuable insights into the struggle for economic justice.
