May 10: Civil Rights Heritage Center Celebration
FRIDAY, MAY 10, 2019, 6PM – 9 PM
CIVIL RIGHTS HERITAGE CENTER
9TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
HOSTED BY THE CIVIL RIGHTS HERITAGE CENTER
In May 2019, the CRHC celebrates nine years since the transformation of the former Engman Public Natatorium.
We're gathering folks to celebrate those nine years, and to talk not only about where we've been, but where we go. Your input will help us chart that course, especially as we gear up for a massive tenth-anniversary celebration in May 2020!
We're also welcoming back some of our dear friends who have led the Center, including:
– Dr. Monica Tetzlaff, second CRHC Director and under whose leadership marked the birth of the Natatorium project;
– Dr. Kevin Lamarr James, who led the Center through the transformation of the Natatorium and its amazing first two and a half years;
– And Dr. Darryl Heller, who is currently taking a year-long leave of absence as the Center's Director, and under whose leadership the Center has continued to be a thriving and active focal point of activism and community engagement in South Bend.
RSVPs requested, though not required, through Eventbrite at http://bit.ly/CRHC9.
The Civil Rights Heritage Center is located at 1040 West Washington St. South Bend.
This event is made possible with support from the Indiana University Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs (Iu Diversity) and the Indiana University Office of the Bicentennial (IU Bicentennial).
